November 2010. Chocolate chip ice cream and peanut butter/walnut cookies in West L.A. Not much to say other than 'mmmm.'

Sweets

Rome. November 2010

All of the vendors were out early but no shoppers. It was bitterly cold and most people with any sort of sense were asleep in bed. Not I. I was out taking pictures and not shopping because the average chocolate bar was two euros or just about four dollars - - four dollars for a roman version of a Snickers?

Work is Fun-ish

Halloween at the office 2010.

Wendy was charging at me telling me not to take this picture and I feared for my camera phone's safety.

I love my job and my co-worker's, there are few people that I'd be as happy working with.

Bountiful Sunset

October 2010
Bountiful, Utah

This was taken on a busy Saturday. The morning was spent at the Semi-Annual Conference held by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. The afternoon consisted of shopping and strolling around Temple Square in Salt Lake. By sunset, my best friend and I had survived the insane organization of Utah streets and found our friend's home in Bountiful.

Once there, we drove towards the top of a hill. The three of us sat on a bench and talked about the normal subjects that three girls talk about, minus boys, we're too cool to talk about boys.

It was an amazing day full of reunions and uplifting messages - it seemed only appropriate that the sun should set in such a warm and all-enveloping manner.

Truly, the light was too bright for my eyes and I just pointed my camera towards the sun and hoped for the best.

Frigid Seine

Paris, France
December 2009

The bateaux-mouche was inching along the River Seine, bobbing up and down gently. The air was frigid and crisp. In the background, I could hear Edith Piaf's Greatest Hits album getting another play on the boat's sound system.

I wrapped my camera's strap around my wrist, set it on the rail, and tried to take some steady pictures.

The picture isn't the best, it is grainy. But when I see it, I immediately remember the lights reflecting off of the water and the slowed sounds of the city at rest. I remember wanting to put on my gloves when I could no longer feel the tips of my fingers but refusing to do so for fear of letting my camera slip into the water and losing all proof that I had set foot on Parisian soil/boat.

The lights from the apartments that line the river are proof that people actually live in these buildings. It is a reminder that someone is blessed enough to live on a street, and in a building, that to me could only exist in a dream.

Fuzzy Fruit

If you know the name of this tree, bonus points for you.

November, 2010.

It was nearing sunset and I was waiting at the exit of the Huntington Botanical Gardens for a friend and her mother. I looked up and saw the fruit of this tree swaying in the breeze.

I thought about plucking one of those fruits and tasting it. I then pictured the Garden volunteers attempting CPR and chest compressions as I went into shock from tasting what must surely be a toxic morsel. Once my imagination had run its course, I turned on my camera and took this picture.
